Casaletto Spartano is a small town of just over a thousand inhabitants. Just one kilometer from the town is the Capelli di Venere waterfall-a natural beauty that springs from the waters of the Rio Bussentino. It owes its name to the oasis where it is located, home to the Capelvenere plant, a type of fern that grows luxuriantly here. Getting to the Capelli di Venere waterfall is not very difficult: at the Padula-Buonabitacolo highway exit, take the freeway to Caselle in Pittari. From there, you take the state highway and arrive in Casaletto Spartano, where all you have to do is follow the signs to reach the waterfall.
The oasis is located under a square with a public fountain, where you can cool off on hot days.
Going down the stairs and through some wooden walkways, you reach the falls. What makes this place wonderful is the fantastic play of light, due to the water and the vegetation present. The air here is much cooler than on the surface, hardly reaching above 10 degrees.
The falls also create natural pools, where the most daring people bathe, as the water is at a temperature of about 6-8 degrees, which is difficult to bear even on the hottest summer days. As you walk along the little river and take care not to slip on the rocks, among mosses and lush vegetation, you can choose whether to stay there and enjoy the coolness lulled by the sound of flowing water, or to arrive at the equipped oasis where you can have a sandwich next to an old disused mill.
The Venus Hairs are located within the Capello Area Oasis, within which there are many attractions. In addition to waterfalls we find nature trails for trekkers, bridges and structures. Among the latter we have an old watermill restored to its former glory that you can visit. There are also wooden bridges in the oasis, built to reach the waterfall. In addition to the wooden ones, there is also a Norman stone bridge over the waterfall. This itinerary can be combined with a visit to the WWF Oasis of the Busseto River in Morigerati, which is a few kilometers away.
